The Humber Mark IV was a British armored car from World War II. It was one of the most widely used British wheeled armored vehicles of the war and was used primarily for reconnaissance, liaison, and patrol duties.
The Mk IV version was the last and most heavily armed variant of the entire Humber series.
Production began in 1940 in response to the British Army's need for a fast reconnaissance vehicle. The chassis was based on the civilian Karrier truck (part of the Rootes Group).
The Mark IV version was introduced into production in 1943 and represented the culmination of development – it was given more powerful armament.
A total of approximately 5,400 units of all versions were produced, of which several hundred to over a thousand were Mk IV versions.
